How To Focus On Goals.

I have made some New Year 2019 health goals and I am sure you probably made some too! Coco Tortoise’s Health Corner is presenting its 1st article of the year, “How to focus on goals.”

What do I mean?

Simply, everything this year should center on the goals you wish to accomplish to stay healthy and safe. You should channel energies to do this to live a life without stress by focusing on certain areas. I will be talking about health goals, adopting a prevention mindset and maintaining a never giving up  posture.

Hopefully, by the end of this walk through, you will see the light about how to focus on your goals.

FOCUS ON HEALTH GOALS

Do you want to be healthy? This is an important question to really think about. Your answer to this question should be yes. Most of us want to be healthy because it is natural to want to live longer by taking care of ourselves. So, you’re not alone with this desire. As long as you make achievable health goals, you should focus on them without swerving  away from the path.

For example,  when I was diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes, severe irreversible glaucoma and high blood pressure,  my health goals in 2016 were to maintain my conditions and seek daily improvement as my regime permitted. Those were my goals then and they still are in 2019. The only change is that I am dealing with arthritis since 2018. Each year I recommit myself to my health goals. I have to focus on several things for survival like:

1/   medications and natural remedies( to control diabetes, glaucoma, high blood pressure and arthritis )

2/   annual check ups ( to make sure my remaining eye and body are in stable condition)

3/   healing foods (to provide excellent nutrition for my body, daily greens are a must)

4/   exercise ( to maintain optimal body weight by swimming and brisk walking)

5/   spirituality (to maintain connection with God for guidance and strength)

6/   hobbies ( to relax and maintain a stress free attitude by gardening, writing and reading)

7/   social interaction ( to maintain a positive attitude by connecting with positive intelligent people)

8/   secure environment ( to maintain safety network to live a stress free life)

My health is important to me and all of these things must be  done to insure a smooth continuity of my lifestyle. If you haven’t written down any health goals, now is a good time to write down a few to help you get started on disease prevention or maintenance. Remember Coco is here to help you plan your way through health challenges. Writing your health goals down helps you to channel your energy towards accomplishing them.

 

FOCUS ON PREVENTION MINDSET

Ok, You need a map to follow to strengthen your thinking. The way how you think has a lot to do with how you behave.

A hit or miss attitude doesn’t help you move forward on your health journey. If you practice this way of living, the outcome at times would be one step forward,  then 2 steps  backwards.

There is no gain here. For example, one day you eat foods that heal your body, then 3 days in a row you eat junk foods that harm your body. Now, you have your body chemistry swinging like a pendulum.  This is not good at all.

Remember why you started eating foods that heal the body in the first place which is to prevent illness and disease.

So, adopting  and maintaining a prevention mindset is more beneficial for you in the long run.. Keeping a hold on the why helps you  to keep things in line upstairs. Yes, upstairs!

Taking the analogy further, only move furniture around upstairs to keep balance in your  body and subsequently reduce chances of illnesses and diseases.

 

FOCUS ON NEVER GIVING UP

Moving along, I would like to share a life changing story with you to help you focus on Never Giving Up..

After my diagnosis with health problems and the aftermath of Hurricane Maria,  my elderly care business took a downward spiral.

I needed to supplement my income almost immediately. As you know, things of value do not happen overnight especially when money is involved.

At any rate, I started this online health website with zero experience from the ground up. I didn’t do it all alone.

I received really dynamic affiliate training from one of the best platforms in the world which is Wealthy Affiliate University.

I have been with them for 5 months so far and I love each message I share with my readers. When I started I had 0 readers. Now,I have about 50 readers daily which is a step in the right direction.   

This is an upward spiral and I am happy to bring content that can actually help people in their daily lives.  People  helping themselves is referred to as SELF HELP which in most cases promote a positive attitude.

This positive attitude serves as a foundation for healthier living. What I am trying to tell you is that the investment in myself through Wealthy Affiliate  has changed my life for the better.

I am living a stress free life  with a solid opportunity of achieving my goals as long as I do not give up

Hanging out with a positive Wealthy Affiliate community who  cares  and shares expertise through trainings, tips, advice, webinars and success stories helped me to learn a valuable lesson as I move forward. 

That lesson  is basic and achievable.  It is to FOCUS ON NEVER GIVING UP.  It’s really easy to accomplish as long as you stay the course.

Remember  these are your goals, your dreams.  Therefore you are the only one who can make them happen. No one is going to do them for you. So, chin up, focus on Never Giving Up and accomplish your goals whatever they are.

Concluding Thoughts

A young man was standing in a dark room and he cried out, ” I can’t see. It’s dark in here!”

The neighbor heard his cry and shouted out, “Turn on the light!” That was simple enough, right?

So it is with goals just turn them on and stick to them.

Holiday Season Words Of Caution.

 

Holiday season words of caution are needed to help you out. During the month of December,  there is a buzz in the atmosphere all around the world  because Christmas is coming.  Many people are engaging in a variety  of impulsive  activities  that could cause harm to them.

I don’t want you to be caught in any traps. This is why I urge you to regard this source of well intended advice. You need to make every effort to be safe.

10 SAFETY TIPS

It doesn’t make sense to sacrifice your health  and precious  life by doing wrong or making poor decisions whether they are intentional or not.

Here are 10 safety tips you can follow to get you in the right mindset.

1)  Safeguard your health by not over indulging.

2)  Drink and drive legally to prevent runnings with the law.

3)  Shop on and off line with possible account breaches and identity theft in mind to safeguard your personal/ credit information.

4)  Be alert for strangers ready to do bodily harm to target your personal property.

5)  Protect your children, family and friends from foul play.

6)  Be wise in your financial decision because what you do in 2018 will affect 2019.

7)  Use credit  and debit cards wisely to stay out of debt.

8)  Follow safety rules for all Christmas decorations to be installed.

9)  Make sure outdoor trees limbs aren’t touching electrical lines to deter pote tail electrical shock.

X)  Clear your areas of all harmful debris to prevent unnecessary accidents

READY FOR ACTION

These safety tips will save you from a world of despair. ALL you have to do is to use them . It ‘s better to prevent something rather having to clean up from a horrible situation .

Also, these 10 tips serve to ” upset the traps” that are possibly being laid for you.

It’s better to be aware of the buzz and channel your energy towards providing a safe environment. This in turn will help you to live a healthier and safer life.

WHY NOW?

Whenever many people are gathered with varied intentions,  the potential for chaos is present.   No good doers use this as an opportunity to set traps, pounce and bring down the innocent.

They take advantage of people being in the spirit of good will and cheer.

The greatest mistake is to knowingly allow them to get an upper hand on you.

Why now?  I don’t want you to step into any of their rraps.

I have given you 10 safety tips  to upset them. BE AWARE AND LIVE SAFER!

Let’s Move To A Healing Light.

 

Let’s move to a healing light is a message created from deep meditation. I was dreaming about light and woke up to the sound of birds chirping in the background My eyes were blurred as if they were blinded. But, I could still see light as in my dream that appeared to be very  beautiful and majestic.

I tried to return to my dream and I couldn’t go back to sleep. Then, I started to think on what this dream could possibly mean. Of course, I didn’t find an answer right away. The good part is , I  wasn’t worried or afraid. I just knew there was a reason for this vision of light and I meditated on it.

Please stay with me. I’m getting to my point.

REFLECTION ON DARKNESS

There was darkness at the time of creation and God made light as written in the Holy Bible. In Genesis 1:3, it is written, “And God said, “Let there be light: and there was light.”

This is beautiful and sets the premise, from darkness light is possible in general.

I’m almost there. Stick with me to the end. Someone needs this today.

So it is in our lives when we face problems which represents darkness. Are you suffering from physical and/or mental ailments? DARKNESS.

Are you ready to throw in the towel and give up? DARKNESS.

Let me tell you what happened to me about two days after Thanksgiving Day.

My hands were clawed. The pain from arthritiswhich is inflammation in the joints was so severe, I couldn’t function normally at all. This was DARKNESS magnified. And still, I didn’t give up.

JOURNEY TOWARDS LIGHT

Well, I reached out to God in a humble prayer  asking for mercy and grace. And, He answered.

Because of supportive family and friends, I was able to organize a self help strategy for three days. The entire process is listed below to help someone in a similar situation.

3 DAYS SELF HELP STRATEGY

* Rest. The body needs a chance to recharge.

* Use medication as prescribed by physician.

* Massage hands with tiger balm to ease pain.

* Drink 1 cup of Golden Milk to reduce inflammation and pain.

* Eat fruits and vegetables only for nourishment.

* Drink about 8 bottles of water for hydration.

* Pray to God for strength to endure.

These are really simple steps. For those who do not know how to make Golden Milk, I will give you recipe. The turmeric in the milk has proven to be beneficial and effective for depression, arthritis, high cholesterol and itching (pruritis).

Golden Milk also helps to build immunity, cures digestive problems purifies the blood, prevents certain cancers and is a natural antibiotic. The turmeric  when cooked releases another substance called curcumin which is responsible for all these great things.

GOLDEN MILK RECIPE

1 cup coconut milk

1 tspn turmeric

1 tspn cinnamon

1 tspn ginger

1-2 dash black pepper

1 pat butter

1/2 tspn honey

Place coconut milk, turmeric, cinnamon, ginger and black pepper in a small pot on low heat. Mix everything together. Continue to slow heat for about 5 minutes. Take pot from the burner. You might want to pass the liquid through a strainer.  Pour contents into a teacup.. Place the butter then the honey in the teacup. Makes 1 serving. Done. Enjoy!

This is a must try it you’ll love it recipe not only for the taste of golden milk but also for its documented health benefits. My hands returned to normal in three days, a condition that would have lasted 1 week or more!

Light was brought to my situation – a healing light.

I am here to let you know that God, Who works through people, is the Greatest Healer of all times. He made the turmeric plant and many others like golden seal, moringa and coconut  just to name a few which He showers with His divine light.

He gave us the wisdom to use the seed, roots, leaves, flowers, fruits, vegetables, and the plant in its entirety to craft herbal remedies to grasp healing properties for our bodies.

These creations exist for a beneficial purpose. Wisdom is needed to determine what is suitable for a specific health condition. I may be wrong in making the following general statement because I have not researched all things.

Nonetheless, when I use only particular creations I feel much better and the results from my annual check up are much improved. This is nature at work.

Bottom line, the more we use natural foods the more light is brought to our bodies. The only way to know if there is any truth in what I am sharing is to find out for yourself. This is advice to help you out in your health journey.

THERE IS DARKNESS AND THERE IS LIGHT. We touched on both as it pertains to daily living . To get from darkness or a problem you have to move to light or find solutions . Certainly you must act on possible solutions so that you could gain results. You must find the courage to do something about your situation.

Some situations improve in very little time. Others take a little bit longer. You shouldn’t be discouraged. If you have a mustard seed of faith in the One who created Day and Night, you will be healed.

Don’t look at your situation as it is, look at it as you would like it to be.The positive vision would give you amazing .encouragement.

This is my sincere belief and it is confirmed in my dreams. I live daily by faith and so should you . I am hoping that what I am sharing will touch you and help you on your health journey.

Great Quotes from Divine Teachers and Healers

Throughout my health journey, I have gained inspiration from great quotes from a number of divine teachers and healers.

Their messages serve as medicine for the mind, body and soul of humanity.

Each person’s understanding of a quote is different because our experiences are different.

For example, let’s take a look at Mahatma Gandhi’s quote.

My understanding is you will find happiness when your actions are in line with what you say and think. This is a personal achievement So, happiness is the result and this approach is applicable to many situations.

On another path, let’s take a look at Dr Sebi’s quote.

My understanding is very basic for this one. If Mother Earth did not make it, then do not eat it. Dr Sebi was concerned with what people placed in their bodies.

Taking this just a bit further,he taught that cells perform much better with natural products.

There is much to be learned from dreams. telepathy, healing and medical studies just to name a few.

Scientists need to dig deeper with a firm realization that there is a Higher Power greater than humanity WHO in due time will reveal all things.

Also, most people don’t realize that the mind is a non physical phenomena with infinite dimensions.

Finding answers will give us a deeper understanding on how to help each other in the world today.

Coco Tortoise’s Health Corner – 3 blatant excuses

Today, Coco Tortoise’s Health Corner is presenting the three blatant excuses that people use for letting their health go down the drain. They are very intentional and could be prevented if more care or concern is given to taking responsibility for their health.

There are many other reasons I am sure but only three will be discussed so that you will have an idea where I am coming from. I will show you how to help yourself by using specific examples. If you want to enjoy a longer and healthier lifestyle, it wouldn’t hurt reading this article in its entirety. Sometimes it is beneficial to adhere to well intended advice.

People live their lives making the most ridiculous excuses without a care for how family and friends could be affected. Forget about other people, it would be in your best interest to follow a path that would give you a better chance for happier and healthier living.

All it takes is an awareness of what is really going on in your environment and taking care of your health journey. Together , let’s take a look at where many of us go wrong. Then, we will also take a look at possible solutions.

What is the first excuse?

The first excuse is, “I am not an expert.”

What do you mean by that ?

You don”t have to be an expert to eat good food. You just have to pay attention to what goes into your body.What’s wrong with eating lot’s of fruits and vegetables? There is nothing like a fresh salad rammed with natural fruits and/or vegetables.

One of my personal favorite fruit salad is made with papaya and kiwi because they are great for high blood pressure. I use this salad at least once a week. I am sharing the recipe below.

PAPAYA AND KIWI SALAD

One cup of ripe chunked papaya

One cup of ripe chunked kiwi

One cup of cut up lettuce

One half cup of baby spinach

Salad dressing of your choice(optional)

Toss all ingredients together. Place on a plate or in a bowl. Drizzle with homemade salad dressingmade with olive oil. white vinegar and cayenne pepper. Then, enjoy this delicious salad.

Those who want to have fish, poultry, tofu or other meats could indulge paying attention to portions.  Limit your starches and carbohydrates to control diabetes.

What is the second excuse?

The second excuse is, “I don’t have enough money to go to the doctor.

With all the free clinics at your disposal, you are telling me there is not one that you could choose from to find out about your blood, urine and stool levels, whether you have high blood pressure, diabetes, chlolesterol, heart or thyroid issues?

NEWS OF THE DAY! High blood pressure is known as the silent killer.

Don’t you want to know why your eyes are fuzzy or why you just ran into the mailbox? You should get your eyes checked out yearly. I did after 5 years and found out that I have full blown irreversible glaucoma. Take my advice!

Also. you keep asking everyone to repeat what they just said. You might as well get your ears checked out too! Help is available. Read a little further.

Universal health care is a health care system that provides health care and financial protection to all citizens of a particular country. It is not only available to citizens who are ill but also to those who are well and need to be checked out. The idea is to have services for citizens without causing a financial burden. For more information, as an example, please take a look at wikepedia. Check out what is available in your country and take advantage of this opportunity.

What is the third excuse?

The third excuse is, “I am planning a big event that requires all of my time right now. I just can’t schedule an appointment with Dr. XYZ.”

NEWS OF THE DAY! My black dress is always prepared to attend memorial services.

I hope you know that I am just making light humor to jolt you into the mindset of taking care of you. No one is going to do it for you. This is a something you have to do for yourself.

The black dress joke is reality. It glaringly shows that people will show up to mourn you, after you are gone! It is your job to let that dress stay hanging wherever it was hanging. They could wear it. But, let it not be for you!

I am speaking straight up, plain as daylight.

According to author Georges, “You are a treasure that needs to be checked out and given you need to shine with all of your glory.

These 3 blatant excuses do not sit well with me and I will not entertain them. Not being an expert, not having any money and not enough time should not prevent you from making sure your health status is verified.

Concluding Thoughts

We discussed 3 blatant excuses that people use to postpone healthcare and solutions were offered to promote healthcare. It is easier to take care of your health now rather than wait for health issues to pop up due to procrastination. Honestly,  I don’t know about you, but it seems easier.

For your health, you should make an effort to eat properly, find decent healthcare and make time to verify health status now before it is too late. Your good health is the foundation towards happy and healthy living.

Excuses will not bring beneficial results. Positive action on your part will do so. Using excuses are like travelling a well trodded road to nowhere.

Coco Tortoise’s Health Corner

Coco Tortoise’s Health Corner is up and running again. Today, I will share 3 poems that helped me to release stress from my inner self. While working on them, they relaxed me and blocked my path to anxiety and debilitating depression. I share and start to feel much better. My poems are called “Round and Round”, “Defiled” and “It’s Over – Death”.

It takes one sure step at a time to find strength to continue. I used writing these poems as a medicine for the heart. I see life through one, unique eye. Some days, I laugh, shout and cry. Other days, I am quiet and go into myself like a probe. Still, I am happy.

“ROUND AND ROUND”

Wrapped round and round
On a bed of thorns.
There my life goes up in flames
Changed in a moment
By instrument of deceit.
Glancing for their own fame
Sparing not the innocent.

” DEFILED “

On an open podium
Nothing much to say
Exposed, defiled, just mishandled clay.
The shape of sadness is truly deep.
Moving clumsily not wanting to peep
Patching the sides of doom

“IT’S OVER – DEATH “

Still, I find a bell to chime.

What a glorious journey it was to be able to write what I was feeling at the time. In 2016, I lost my beloved companion. Also, I was diagnosed with severe glaucoma that required treatments, diabetes and high blood pressure. Then was an awful time for me.

Putting my confusing thoughts on paper guided me to the light which led to better thoughts and helped to reduce pressure that was bottled up inside.

Do you have any bottled up thoughts that you would like to share?

I am here as your sounding board. In other word, I am here to listen and offer advice, if necessary.

Everyone needs someone to talk to about health issues especially if there is a need to release bottled up emotions. This ability to let go is very important for numerous health reasons.

Two years later, I am much better because I accepted my condition, managed it, shared it and won. This is done step by step with a purpose and plan in mind. Purpose is what I would like to do and plan is how I am going to do it. My connection with you is open because helping people to help themselves is my mission.

A real remedy when financial fix affects health

Today, I will discuss how health and finances affect each other. When you find yourself in a financial fix, you need to know when the help offered is real, how you got in this situation in the first place, how your health could be affected how to find a real remedy to help improve your finances and health.

IS HELP REAL?

Life and its struggles are not always above board and you need some financial help to find your footing.

The hardest thing to do is to ask someone who will right from the beginning judge you and then tell you what you should do or what you will do with the help asked for.

How does that make you feel?

Well, I could certainly answer for you – not to good, right?

Not only that, when they know that they are probably your last resort to solve your financial fix, they string you along. This is one of the most disingenuous act one person could ever do to another. Why people do it is beyond my imagination.

Have you ever been strung along?

Probably yes, and yet, you swallow what’s left of your pride and still ask for help anyway because of the situation. You may have to answer a barrage of questions like, “When am I getting it back?”or “How are you going to spend it?” as if you are being interrogated for a crime. This is ridiculous!

Deep down inside, you may feel like a jerk and want to crawl into an oyster’s shell to hide from the shame of being in this position.

You asked and agreed to term which floated out of somewhere, made nice so that they wouldn’t change their minds and promised to clean their dusty windows, something that you probably don’t do for yourself. Again, this is ridiculous.

When you find yourself in a position of need and you have to be judged, accept out-of-the-way terms and feel debased, this help is not real. It is not from the heart.

When help is given from the heart, it is without judging, without conditions and without a feeling of despair.

HOW DID YOU GET TO THIS POINT?

For the most part, life involves fielding many curve balls. Let’s take a look at events that could happen. They are as follows:

• Did you plan to get fired?

• Did you plan to lose all of your money trading stocks?

• Did you plan to have your home destroyed by a natural disaster?

• Did you plan for any kind of unexpected expenses?

From these questions, you have an idea where I am going with this. I know you probably did not plan for any of these events. It’s a hard thing to accept but most of us live from paycheck to paycheck. You are not alone. Just one major event could take you out. In other words, these unplanned events do happen and they could cause you to fall behind financially. Statistics show that 78% of full time workers said they live from paycheck to paycheck, from 75 % last year, according to a recent report from from nbcnews.com. It further stated that this way of living could affect your life because of stress.

The sad part is that most of us do not have any wiggle room which is money placed aside for unplanned events. Bottom line you did not plan to fail financially, you simply failed to plan for a rainy day.

HOW COULD YOUR HEALTH BE AFFECTED?

Financial plight is one of the main causes of stress which could lead to many health problems like high blood pressure, diabetes, headaches, asthma, obesity, depression & anxiety, gastrointestinal problems, Alzheimer’ disease, accelerated aging and premature death.( https://www.webmd/10-stress-related-health-problems-that-you-can-fix-WEBMD)

A change in finances directly causes a change in your lifestyle sometimes with negativity. Because of the inability to handle stress, you might start drinking alcohol excessively, smoking cigarettes & party drugs, overeating unhealthy foods, worrying constantly, feeling down, hyperventilating due difficulty breathing, confusion, having emotional distress and developing stomach aches and nausea.

Stress could cause all of these health problems, but the good news is that these health issues could be fixed or improved. It becomes necessary more than ever to explore options that could help you to reduce or eliminate stress. In this case, you must take care of your finances.

WHAT IS A REAL REMEDY?

Financial freedom is a real remedy to your financial fix. Wouldn’t it be great to have an opportunity to depend on yourself and not on others? There comes a time when you have to focus on saving your life – for you.

And, it starts with you.

TIME FOR HEALTH

Finding the time to do what is necessary requires preparation and consistency of purpose. You may say, “I am just too busy with other things.” This is an unacceptable  excuse.  As a matter of fact, no excuse should prevent you from taking care of number one. You only have one life to live, my friend.

Tell me, do you own a car and maintain it yearly, because you need it to perform at optimum efficiency?

Well, a similar maintenance routine is required for your body.

You are a treasure that needs to be checked out and given what you need to shine in all of your glory.

It is amazing the pride some people have in material things like a new car and other collectibles. Oh, what a beauty,  she purrs just right”, you may say.

But, are you purring beautifully or coughing horribly?

Only you would know that.

Today, I am sharing with you my 7 prevention tips for your safety, because accidents can happen at any time especially when you are trying to save money by doing work for yourself at home.

You can use these tips to prevent needless injuries that will change your plans and cost you more money than you are willing to part with.

As you know, repairing the roof, hauling debris, chopping broken tree limbs and weedwhacking the yard are typical examples of work to be done at home. For your safety, you should use protective body gear along with your clothes.Of course, you can decide which is suitable for the work you plan to do.

Below are some tips that can help.

  1. Wear a hard hat to protect your head. A blow yo the head could literally kill you or cause permanent brain damage.
  2. Wear goggles to protect your precious eyes. An eye injury could cause damage to the eye which could make life uncomfortable, especially if you become blind.
